A troubled Chris McCabe planned to spend the Christmas holidays alone at his family's cottage up north, hoping that there he'd be able to work out the things that were causing him so much pain. Dismissing the townsfolks' warnings about an approaching storm, he decided to take a walk outside, a decision he soon regretted when a tree fell upon him, pinning him to the ground by his leg and causing it to break.
